Pentatonic Tunes in Year 4

In year 4 we have been learning about the pentatonic scale. We have had a go at improvising using the 5 notes and then turned our improvising in to composing by working in pairs to create short tunes. This video shows how some of the children in 4BH got on, see what you think and let me know by leaving a comment below.

Year 4 Ostinato compositions

Year 4 have been learning about repeated patterns (ostinati) in music. This week they have been creating their own patterns using instruments and combining them with other patterns. Take a look at these two videos to see how two of the groups got on.

Year 4 Compositions

In Year 4 we have been learning about composition and notation. We learnt how we could create music to describe things and also how we could use graphic notation to write down our music. In groups we created music in an ABA structure to describe different natural disasters like volcanoes and earthquakes. Click read more to see some videos of our work.
