It's been a while since we've had a video of the week. Here's a great video I saw over the weekend of a very talented group of musicians managing to play a famous piece of classical music using only boomwhackers! Look at how closely they work together to make it possible, it must have taken hours of slow practice.

It's been a while since we had a video of the week. This one is thanks to Thisuni in Year 6 who suggested it at our orchestra rehearsal yesterday where we were learning to play some music from Harry Potter.

Video of the Week - Great Piano Playing

Quite a simple video for this week, this is just a fantastic piece of piano music composed and performed by John Schmidt from the piano guys. Enjoy.

Video of the Week - Billie Jean Ukulele

This video is of an amazing ukulele player called James Hill. In this video he is playing his own arrangement of the Michael Jackson song 'Billie Jean'. If you listen closely, you will notice he is actually playing three parts at once all on the same instrument - this is incredibly hard to do! See if you can hear all the different parts.

Video of the Week - Mr Curly

This week's video is possibly one of my favourites of the whole year. It's by the same man who made the carrot clarinet in last week's video. This video features 'Mr Curly' which is an incredible instrument made from a hose pipe. There are also a few other surprises along the way and also another example of a looping machine being used. Some of you might remember the vegetable orchestra video I put up a few months ago. Well, I saw this and it reminded me of that, but I think it might even be better! I think this carrot clarinet sounds great, let me know what you think.

Video of the week - 'Animated Graphic Score'

This week's video is a of a beautiful piece of piano music by a French composer called Claude Debussy. In this video the music is represented by animated colourful blobs to show the different notes which are being played. It's a very interesting way of showing all the different layers in the music.

Video of the Week - Kashakas/Asalatos

In the last video I put up, some of you were very interested in the shaker that was being played. This instrument is called either 'Kashakers' or 'Asalatos' (I'm not sure why it has 2 names). It's basically 2 small ball shaped shakers attached by a piece of string that you swing around in your hands. Ms Ross has just bought some back from the UK and it's surprisingly hard to play!

This week's video is of a brilliant violinist who creates his music by recording little bits of music and then 'looping' them back on top of each other as he plays the next part. He has a looping pedal by his foot - watch when he taps it to record. See if you can hear all the different layers.

Video of the Week - Virtual Choir

This week's video is an amazing example of how people across the world can be connected by the internet and music. Eric Whitacre has created this virtual choir using thousands of video clips sent to him. He pasted all the recordings together and this is the incredible result.

Video of the Week - Amazing Bucket Drummer!

As you may have seen from other videos, you can make music using just about anything. This video shows that brilliantly, with an incredible drummer using some simple buckets to create the sounds of a drum kit.

Video of the week - A Cappella Cover

In this video one man has recorded himself many times singing all the different parts of the Adele song 'Rolling in the Deep'. He then edited all the videos together to create this performance. Pretty impressive stuff, see what you think.
