Musician of the Month - Tan Dun

Our musician for the month of February is:

Tan Dun 
(Born 1957)


  • Tan Dun is a Chinese composer and conductor.
  • He was born in a village in Changsha in the Hunan province of China.
  • He is most well known for his music for the film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" for which he won an Oscar, a Grammy award and a BAFTA.
  • He composed music for the medal ceremonies at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
  • His music often uses interesting instruments constructed from materials, such as paper, water, and stone.
